Epilogue tomorrow. It's a few pages but I'll post them as one big update.
There's plenty of things I'm not really happy with in this story, the most recent thing being related to the rose where I managed to entirely skip the explanation page because I started following the wrong set of thumbnails,, it's not huge and you can kind of work it out from context but it's one of many oopsies. But I hope I delivered some Good Sad Times regardless.
Will I be doing another comic? probably no, at least not yet. I spent too long on this one to come out of it just feeling relieved it's over.
And I'm sorry I couldn't give Dylan a happier ending. He just doesn't deserve to get everything he wants. He only coulda got that if he spoke to jerry instead of killing him.
It's an accident that the natural end fell so close to halloween, but when I realised it could, I engineered things a bit and finished the whole epilogue for tomorrow
Damn, Moth, I'm crying, I'm actually crying.
I, uh, there are so so many things I want to say to you, but I'm in no state to write anything at the moment. Give me time 'til tomorrow.
Seriously, I kind of expected it on the last page, but it still hit me hard :c
Jerry: "Damnit, Dylan! That fire spread through the whole forest and then burnt down the town! I'm not saving your ass this time, you're going to prison!"
:D
Truth be told, Moth, I think this is the best ending any of us could have ever reasonably hoped to see. I was expecting something worse, so this feels very appropriate and, if anything, perhaps bittersweet? Then again, maybe the epilogue is Dylan and Corey going to prison for murder and Chris & Eden living happily ever after. :D
Maaaan, my heart. This comic has been a wonderful, tragic, years-long ride and this is a fitting end.
Didn’t catch this at first, but I saw a theory on tapas - Jerry managed to possess Dylan and stuck around until about the third panel here, hence the confusion like he’s waking up. If that’s the case - given the dialogue and the fact that he spent his last moments hugging his best friend, it’s a real sendoff indeed.
Thank you for putting so much effort into this comic, Moth. You delivered some Massively Sad Times (I may or may not have cried a little) and I’m grateful for it. The minor mistakes pale in comparison to the fact that you forged an entire webcomic on your own with a strong enough story to make the readers feel deeply and strong enough art to do it justice. Cant wait for tomorrow’s epilogue :’)
I don't really know what else to say other than thank you! yeah I'm not too bothered by the fact that it's not a perfect story and I don't mind... not liking... lots of it? because I wasn't aiming for success or anything, I don't mind my passion project being patchy.
This is most definitely one of my all time favourite stories. Not just comics- this one's competing with movies, TV-series, folklore, song lyrics and books for the spot and still definitely one of my favourites.
The art style is amazing, the story has the exact right amount of intensity to keep you on edge, the characters genuinely feel like people.
I can imagine it's been quite a lot of work and stress, but you should be really proud of yourself. And hopefully in a little while you can look back and actually enjoy what you've created. :) We'll be around for when you're ever ready for more- I know I am.
I remember when you mentioned that Dylan is not going to have a good ending but then if I compare this to my expectations, this is quite the good ending for him!
Although Jerry never really disappears. It is up to Dylan. He just truly became a memory now. What happened, happened. Certainly gives Dylan something to think about for years to come, haha.
I am just wondering if Jerry truly has forgiven Dylan but probably yes.
Ay! Congrats on completing and good luck with some possible future stuff :>
i always kinda knew jerry wasnt gonna be around at the end but it still punched me in the heart. ive only been reading since march this year but it was instantly my favorite comic of all the ones ive read before. im proud of you for finishing this, and seeing the boys go up and down. i cant wait to see what you do next, whenever that may be!
So I've been with your comic for a really long time... I think since the very beginning of the reboot.. maybe even a tiny bit before. Anyways I know I never posted a comment before (honestly I should've though. Loved reading all the theories.)
But I've truly loved the comic and every update day the first thing I do after school is check your comic. I know everyone else already said this, but I adore the ending. Honestly for a long time I was nervous you'd kill Dylan or send him to jail (Which technically you could still do but I have hope.)
Even though the ending could be happier, I think it fit very well. Dylan can learn and move on and make sure to become a better person. Thank you for blessing us with you beautiful comic. The perfect Halloween gift. <3
Thank you so much for making this comic, I went through something similar to Dylan and it's really helped me out a lot with learning things like self-forgiveness, self-acceptance and that people actually do care about you even if it doesn't feel like it(/you don't notice it.).
It's just helped me out a ton. I love the story and the characters(okay, mainly Dylan), and once again, thank you so much for making this great comic.

Congratulations Moth! I'm so happy to see this end. The fact you managed to finish this is an achievement. I'm so glad I got to see this end.
The ending is indeed pretty tragic. Jerry really is gone now. I love the small sequence of Dylan turning around. It feels so animated.
Can't wait for the epilogue!
Moth
thanks man
that was the last bit I put in actually, it was just one panel and I changed it haha

All things considered, this is an incredible time to end a ghost story. Did you plan this?

PlasmaPuff
thank you Moth for such a good comic
It’s a nice bittersweet ending, reminds me of how Worm ended (including the confusion as to the fate of a main character lol)

weeell Jerry could've not disappeared, that would have been happier right? but it would have lost some of the moral
This really just was a vehicle for chris and eden to find eachother, they have perfect duo energy

Thank you, Moth! This comic has been a pleasure to follow. I guess I'll be pondering the ending for a while, as one should with a mystery story.
